XVI International Folklore Festival in Cyprus

     

On September 13-19, under the auspices of N Studia, the XVI International Folklore Festival of Larnaca in Cyprus took part in the state ensembles of Khelvachauri folk songs and dances: "Atdzali", "Kolkha", "Epoka" and "Kolkheti".

The Caucasus University student team also performed on behalf of Georgia at the festival.

In addition to Georgia, folklore ensembles from Cyprus, Greece, Egypt, Bulgaria, the United Arab Emirates, Slovenia and Armenia also took part in the festival.

State officials from different countries attended this representative event.

The Georgian delegation was accompanied by the mayor of Khelvachauri, Mr. Zaza Diasamidze, other officials. Mr. Amir Nabih, Deputy Minister of Culture of Egypt, was also among the officials of foreign countries of the festival.

As part of the festival program, an official meeting was held with the Mayor of Larnaca, Mr. Andreas Viras; A conference on the history and development of folklore was held, a presentation of a book by a Greek folklorist, Greek dance master classes were organized.

The festival concerts were attended by the Georgian pastor working in Cyprus, archpriest Zakaria Peradze, and local Georgians.

A very busy and interesting festival program, concerts and parades were attended by a large number of spectators who warmly and emotionally reacted to the performances of the festival participants.

We congratulate the Khelvachauri State Ensembles and the student team of the Caucasus University for their successful participation in the Larnaca International Festival and for representing our country in a dignified manner.
